Millmerran Museum and Historical Mural Walk

Mt Basalt Reserve and Lookout

Located approximately 19km south of Millmerran, the Mt Basalt Reserve and Lookout is a standout attraction for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. The area features scenic walking tracks that wind through bushland shaped by ancient volcanic activity. From the lookout, visitors are rewarded with sweeping views across the surrounding countryside. The reserve is also home to unique rock formations and native flora, making it an ideal spot for photography, hiking, and quiet appreciation of the natural landscape.

Back Creek Parkland

For a slower pace, Back Creek provides a peaceful escape just moments from town. Anglers can also try their luck fishing in the creek, or simply enjoy the tranquil atmosphere. It’s an ideal place to unwind, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a quiet afternoon outdoors.

Millmerran Community Events and Festivals

Millmerran is well known for its strong community spirit and lively calendar of events. Every second October, the biennial Camp Oven Festival celebrates Australia’s heritage and outback traditions, drawing thousands of visitors for camp oven cooking competitions, live entertainment, and local markets. Throughout the year, the town also hosts the Rendezvous Competition, Bush Christmas in July, The Chisholm Trail, and The Millmerran Show. These events bring the community together and offer visitors a chance to experience local culture, food, and country hospitality.

Yandilla Churches

History enthusiasts should make time to visit the Yandilla Churches, located near the Condamine River. These three historic churches date back to the mid-1800s and sit on land originally settled by the Gore family. The churches stand as a reminder of Millmerran’s early European settlement and the role faith and community played in shaping the region. Today, they offer a quiet and reflective glimpse into the area’s cultural and historical heritage.
